On Stage "Justified and Stripped" (SRB Revision Mixes) 2-CD-Set
Label: SRB

In January and February 1970, Elvis Presley returned to the International Hotel in Las Vegas for another engagement, building on the momentum of his remarkable comeback the previous year. The performances that became “On Stage” captured an artist continuing to reshape his live show, drawing increasingly from rhythm and blues, country, gospel, and Southern-rooted material rather than relying solely on the songs that had made him famous.
For “Justified and Stripped”, the original recordings have been deconstructed and rebuilt to place Elvis and the TCB Band at the center. With the orchestral layers removed, the arrangements become leaner and more forceful.
Vocally, Elvis was in remarkable form during this period. His phrasing is assured, his tone powerful, and his ability to move between restraint and intensity remains effortless.
Heard this way, “On Stage” becomes a different kind of document. With the emphasis returned to Elvis and his band, the music feels tougher, leaner, and more immediate, capturing the rhythm and blues foundation that remained at the heart of Elvis's musical identity.
